It didn’t take long for me to realise that if it isn’t a new restaurant opening in Manchester, it’s a new hotel.
With such a great city for UK and overseas tourists to visit, it really isn’t any surprise that the offerings just keep growing and growing.
The latest of these offerings is an exciting new venture by GG Hospitality and is due to open on the 15th November 2019
Set within the Manchester Stock Exchange building within the Upper King Street Conversation Area, this stunning building and its original marble, brass and woodwork, has been carefully restored to show off the Edwardian Baroque architecture. It was critical to owners Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Winston Zahra that the history of the building was preserved and during the research period they found three former traders from the Stock Exchange, these were Alan Botterley (93), Jon Goldstone and David Cummings.
Co-Owner Gary Neville said “When you hear Alan, Jon and David talk and share the memories they have of the building, you realise how important it was to them and what an impact it had on people in Manchester. The stories of boom and busts, of playing cricket and football on the trading room floor, the different characters that worked there and how they all felt when it closed. When we heard these things, we became even more determined to bring the building back to life and share the stories that it has to tell.”
Stock Exchange Hotel is also the first and only Manchester property to be added to the Relais & Châteaux collection, where it joins more than 585 landmark hotels run by independent innkeepers chefs and owners.
There will be 40 rooms within in the hotel, Starting from the 25 square meters. The John Gass Collection will each come with a king sized bed, walk in shower and luxury amenities. With a little more space and added luxury comes the Arthur Hope which are up to 35 square meters..
The Bradshaw collection adds even more space at 42 square meters, is ideally suited for even longer stays and adds more luxury and a free standing bathtub.
The Kent Collection Suites, with their 46 square meters of luxurious space add a separate seating area whilst the Norfolk Collection Suite at 55 Square Meters includes an outdoor terrace.
For those wanting even more space and luxury their are two Signature Suites.
The 1903 Suite, named after the year the Manchester Stock Exchange bell first rang, is ideal for family’s or friends staying together. This two bedroom apartment spans over 106 square meters and incorporates a kitchenette, dining area as well as well stock cocktail cabinet.
The ultimate stay however is accessed by a private staircase from the lobby, the Boardroom Suite boasts a number of meticulously restored original features, including; marble pillars, original wood panelling, an ornamental replace, stained-glass windows, and the original vault fully-stocked bar. Ideal for entertaining, the magnificent space provides a large open-plan lounge, a dining room for up to eight people and a bar area with a comfortable seating area.
A spacious bedroom, dressing area, and a large en-suite bathroom with a steam shower and free-standing bathtub provide the perfect setting for rest and rejuvenation. There truly is no accommodation like it anywhere in the city.
A residence will also compliment the hotel, with its own roof-top terrace offering views across the Manchester skyline, The House will offer up three meticulously designed bedrooms with en-suites, a fully fitted kitchen, breakfast bar, two separate lounge areas, a beverage bar, a stylish dining room and a fitness room creating a unique penthouse residence.
Any hotel of this standing wouldn’t be complete without dining options to match. The former trading floor of the old Stock Exchange, under a magnificent domed ceiling, is the setting for the Manchester Debut of Chef Tom Kerridge.
The old trading floor has been designed to to be a social space where people can enjoy quality food in a relaxed atmosphere.
In addition to this, there will be private dining and a number of events held within The Vault as well as The Bank. With space for up-to 120 people The Vault will be able to offer up events on the lower ground floor, while The Bank will have its own entrance off Norfolk Street and allow for private dining for up to 14 guests along with its own wine cellar.
Rooms in the hotel will be stating from just £160, with suites starting at £320 (Signature Suites from £650 per night). Stays in the three bedroom residence ‘The House’ will start from £1750 a night for short or long term stays, with prices being based on the length of stay.
