If like me, you like to plan your summer getaway around all the foodie events that take place throughout the summer, one that you just need to be aware of is ‘Festa Italiana’

Last June Maurizio Cecco, owner of Salvi’s, organised the 3 day event, where Manchester’s Italian community transformed Cathedral Gardens into a little piece of Italy.

The festival went down well and as such it’s back for a second year. This years event will be taking place between 13th-15th July, again in Cathedral Gardens.

The days will be packed with lots happening and featuring everything Italian, from Pizza to Processo Feasts that you can read about here, to Pasta Making Classes, like the one I recently attended (Read about that here)

One of the stars of this years event, is sure to be the appearance of Limocello di Capri – an authentic taste of Capri, made with certified , sun-drenched Sorrento and Capri lemons.

Vincenza Canale first created this beautiful drink, serving up Limoncello using the lemons from her garden, it was then her descendants that continued to develop and later trademark the name ‘Limoncello di Capri’

Limoncello of this quality is usually reserved for those sipping this delight in Italy, but as part of the festival, not only are they bringing their original and authentic Limoncello to Manchester, but have also created ‘The Capri Spritz’ – The festival’s official drink.

The Capri Spritz is Limoncello Di Capri served over ice, with a premium tonic and topped with Prosecco Brut, then garnished with Strawberry and fresh mint – a true taste of the summer.

If like me you cant wait until July to try this refreshing and zingy drink or another of their delights, then you can head down to Salvi’s in The Corn Exchange or John Dalton Street and try it for yourself.
