Manchester International Festival announces Food and Drink Line Up

With a couple of days of glorious sunshine here in Manchester, it’s clear that summer may finally be here (Let’s just forget the thunderstorms forecast for the next few days)

Along with the sunshine, summer also brings along the Manchester International Festival right in the heart of the city within Albert Square.

Festival Square will be free to visit from Friday 5th July until Sunday 21st July, it is going to be an extraordinary food destination, as well as being the place to check out an exciting free programme of live music, DJ’s and Special Events.

JW Lees will be the official beer supplier with a full banquet of their beers available, including a very special collaboration with Manchester Gin.

The carefully created brew has been inspired by the complex flavours of Manchester Gin to produce a citrusy pale ale which captures the signature botanicals of the Gin perfectly.

Other specials on offer will be the ‘Drunk Pandemic’ as well as Chim↑Pom Craft inspired brew. Chim↑Pom will be having a Japanese art collective as well as a temporary brewery set up in the tunnels under Victoria Station. Inspired by the time when thousands were buried in huge cholera pits in the 1830’s, it was a time when people were advised to drink only beer in order to avoid the infected water.

They will also be holding tours of this secret venue as well as special events, with more to be revealed soon.

Food Delights on offer in Festival Square will include

Honest Crust – including a MIF collaboration with Ramsbottom food stars Levanter

Kala – with Gary Ushers restaurant offering up some ‘on-the-go’ specials.

Manjit’s Kitchen – Offering up superb Indian vegetarian and vegan delights.

Firebird Hope -An old Hatch favourite, serving up some special MIF chicken offerings

Idle Hands Coffee – will be hosting their own artisan coffee house

Gingers Comfort Emporium – with their irresistible Ice Cream

As well as all this street food, Paul Heathcote and Friends will be hosting a series of Supper Clubs and Lazy Lunches in Festival Squares intimate Glass House.
