Climat Manchester Review: Rooftop Dining, Seasonal Plates & Exceptional Wine

Set high above the city, Climat has quickly become one of Manchester’s most talked-about dining destinations — and it’s not hard to see why. Combining a produce-led menu with a serious wine programme and panoramic rooftop views, Climat delivers an experience that feels both refined and refreshingly relaxed.

Manchester’s food scene has evolved rapidly in recent years, but Climat stands out by doing something slightly different. It leans into a European, wine-first approach, with clear nods to French bistro culture, while keeping things modern, seasonal, and approachable.

First Impressions & Atmosphere

From the moment you arrive, Climat feels like an occasion. The space is stylish without being overdesigned, and the rooftop setting adds an immediate sense of something special. As the evening unfolds and the skyline begins to glow, the atmosphere really comes into its own.

What sets it apart, though, is how relaxed it feels. A carefully curated playlist — including some standout old-school R&B classics on our visit — brings an easy, nostalgic energy that balances the refinement of the setting perfectly.

Food at Climat Manchester

Snacks & Small Plates

We started with a sourdough baguette and salted butter — simple, but executed perfectly. It’s often the basics that reveal the most, and this was a great example of quality ingredients being allowed to shine.

Alongside that, the Comté gougères were a highlight. Light, airy, and packed with deep, savoury cheese flavour, they set the tone for what followed: confident, flavour-driven cooking without unnecessary complication.

Starter: Wild Garlic & Jersey Royal Soup

The wild garlic and Jersey Royal soup, served with a Roquefort toastie, was rich, indulgent, and full of seasonal character. The earthiness of the garlic paired beautifully with the creamy depth of the soup, while the sharp, salty hit from the blue cheese toastie cut through everything perfectly.

It’s the kind of dish that feels comforting yet elevated — a balance Climat handles effortlessly.

Main: Pork Belly with Rainbow Chard & Soubise

The pork belly was a standout. A crisp, caramelised crust gave way to tender, flavour-packed meat, while the accompaniments — rainbow chard, silky soubise, and fragrant lemon thyme — brought balance and freshness.

It’s a dish that showcases technical precision without losing sight of what matters most: bold, satisfying flavour.

Dessert (Highly Recommended)

Although I was too full to dive in myself, the Alphonso mango sorbet with cardamom ice cream and pink peppercorn came highly recommended. Judging by the reaction at the table, it’s a must-order if you’ve got room — light, aromatic, and a perfect way to finish.

Wine List: A Serious Highlight

One of Climat’s defining features is its wine list. Extensive and thoughtfully curated, it focuses heavily on low-intervention and terroir-driven wines, while still offering accessible options for those less familiar, its definitely somewhere where I could visit on a day off, for a glass of great wine and a few plates to go with it.

The team are knowledgeable without being intimidating, helping guide you to something that genuinely suits your taste — whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or just looking for a great glass to complement your meal, this is a great choice.

Service & Overall Experience

Service throughout was spot on — attentive, warm, and well-paced. There’s a genuine sense of passion from the team, which elevates the entire experience without ever feeling forced or overly formal.

Combined with the views over Manchester and the carefully considered atmosphere, Climat manages to strike that rare balance: high-quality dining that still feels relaxed and enjoyable.

Final Verdict: Is Climat Manchester Worth It?

Absolutely. Climat delivers across the board — exceptional food, a standout wine programme, and one of the best dining settings in the city.

It’s ideal for date nights, celebrations, or simply when you want a meal that feels a little more special. In a city full of great restaurants, Climat confidently holds its place at the top end of the scene.
