Having heard some great things about the Sunday Lunch served up at The Parlour in Chorlton, I thought it was about time I take the walk down there and try it for myself.
A small gastro pub on the busy and fashionable Beech Road, The Parlor is warm, welcolming and friendly, serving british sourced food as well as utalising local suppliers and independant growers. They also serve up some great beers and ales.
Their Sunday Menu is based aroud their famous Sunday Lunch, with a small selection of starters, including an asparagus and stilton cheese tart, Scottish oak smoked Salmon, soup and my choice, a Duck Liver and Orange Pate.
The pate was flavoursome and silky smooth, paired with a thick cut toast, my only gripe was that I could probably do with a little more bread. The accompaning Red Onion Marmalade was also gorgeous.
For main choice I opted for the Roast Beef Lunch, other options include Roast Rork or a Nut Roast.
The beef was great, served Med/Rare was just inside my acceptance, personally favouring rare, I accept however that when cooking for larger numbers, they try to get a happy comprimise.
It was joined on the plate by some superb roast potatoes, a crushed swede and parsley mash, honey glazed carrots, herb buttered green beans and a huge yorkshire pudding– all smothered with a thick and tasty gravy.
Although I wouldnt class myself as a Sunday Lunch fanatic, I do enjoy one every now and again, rarely be happy with those that I’m served, this however was not the case here, not only would I recommend it, I actually can see myself going back for another!
