In celebration of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, Lionesses head coach and Hotel Football co-owner, Philip Neville has teamed up with Cafe Football Old Trafford, to create a number of special limited-edition World Cup inspired dishes which will be available for the duration of the tournament.

Philip and the chefs at Cafe Football in Manchester created the menu after taking inspiration from dishes popular with the Lionesses. Katsu ‘Capt’ Curry, Fizzer’s Caesar Salad, Tackle-atelle and the Kick-Kat Cheesecake will be available from 7 June until 7 July.

The menu

Katsu ‘Capt’ Curry – £12

Breaded chicken and basmati rice in a mild curry sauce

Fizzer’s Caesar Salad – £10

Iceberg lettuce, garlic croutons, bacon and char-grilled chicken with Caesar salad dressing

Tackle-atelle – £11.50 + £2 to add chicken

Char-grilled Mediterranean vegetables, tomato fondue and basil pesto with optional added char-grilled chicken

Kick-Kat Cheesecake – £6

Vanilla Cheesecake with chunky chocolate wafer pieces

Philip Neville said:– “It’s been great to work closely with the chefs at Cafe Football to create these dishes. The dishes are a good mix of protein and carbs and are team favorites.”

But l I couldn’t just take his word for it, so I headed down to Hotel Football myself to try them out.

India chose the Katsu ‘Capt’ Curry, a juicy piece of breaded chicken, smothered in a tangy and mildly spicy sauce, served with rice and side salad.

The breadcrumb was crispy with the chicken being perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The Sauce was a little mild for my taste, however still really delicious.

For me it was the pasta option of Tackle atelle.

Again this was perfectly cooked, the fresh pasta is served in a flavoursome sauce, packed full of chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables and chicken, topped with some Parmesan.

Both dishes were freshly prepared and tasted great.

Cafe Football Old Trafford is situated on the ground floor of Hotel Football in Manchester. As well as offering up this new menu, it will also be showing the FIFA Women’s World Cup on its 13 plasma screens from Friday 7th June until the final on Sunday 7th July.
