Just a couple of weeks ago I was wondering around the Guinness Experience in Dublin, where as well as finding out all about the ‘ Black Stuff’, one of the newest attractions was the Ripple bar.

The Ripple machine ingenuously ‘prints’ a picture of message onto the top of a pint of Guinness, using 3D print technology and ‘ink’ using edible malt.

Well now you don’t have to visit Dublin to get these experiences, as both are now available in Manchesters very own Waxy O’Conner’s Irish Pub.

Their Ripple machine is said to be the first one in the UK as part of a trial and it couldn’t be any easier for you to experience it.

Head down to Waxy’s and simply download the ‘Ripples’ app from the App Store. It allows you to connect to their machine based on your location and upload a picture of a logo. In doing so, the app will give you a number, which you simply quote to the bar staff when ordering your pint of Guinness. They will then do the rest.

The ‘Printing’ is free of charge and you simply just pay for your pint.

An alternative to uploading your own face or logo is to ask for a message, maybe its someone’s Birthday in the group – well what better way to celebrate than to serve them a pint with a special birthday message printed on the top.

In addition to the Ripples machine, Waxy’s is also launching a new ‘Guinness Experience’

Bookable through Visit Manchester, or through their own website, the experience allows you enjoy some of what Dublin has to offer, right here in Manchester.

The experience starts with the secrets of pouring the perfect pint, which after trying to master for yourself, you get to sit back and enjoy.

You’ll learn about the history of St James Gate, the home of Guinness and the forward thinking family that signed a 9000 year lease on their Dublin Storehouse.

Guinness isn’t just good for drinking, it also makes a great ingredient in food, so you’ll also get to enjoy a Guinness Stew or Pie (This can vary) as part of the ticket, which will also include a second pint.

The experience also includes a cellar talk where you’ll learn how you ensure your Guinness is exactly the same in Manchester as it is in Dublin, plus your own chance to see the Ripple Machine in action on yet another pint for you to enjoy.

The tickets for the Guinness Experience costs just £16.95 and you can log your interest in the next event by completing the form here
