A Michelin Star restaurant near Windermere is enticing lunchtime diners with an exciting new dining experience, giving them a first look at new, experimental dishes and a chance to meet the chefs in person.
The SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel Development Lunch launches on 22nd September and is a must-visit for foodies in the local area who want to sample a Michelin starred menu at one of the Lake District’s top foodie hot spots.
Diners will enjoy a six-course set menu for just £60 per person, with the food served by the chefs themselves – adding to the fun and providing a unique opportunity to discuss the dishes and ingredients with the award-winning team that created them.
A limited number of dates are available, with Development Lunches initially taking place on 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 30th September.
Ollie Bridgwater, executive chef at SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel explains more:
“The idea behind our new Development Lunch is that we can be a bit more experimental, working with the freshest, seasonal ingredients available that day. The daily menu won’t be shared ahead of time, which is exciting for diners and gives us the flexibility to try new dishes or specific ingredients.
“For diners, they get to be the first to sample new ideas and concepts fresh from the kitchen. It is an exclusive opportunity that doesn’t come along very often, so we’re hoping it will be really popular with foodies in the local area.
“As a chef, to be able to be so creative and spontaneous is a huge bonus, plus we’ll be getting a genuine feel of the dishes that really hit the mark and look at adding them to our evening tasting menu in the coming months.’The team at SOURCE and I are really looking forward to stepping out of the kitchen and meeting more of the diners in this relaxed, enjoyable dining experience.”

Ollie Bridgwater took the reins at SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel early in 2023 and has been tipped by professional reviewers as ‘one to watch’ in the burgeoning Lake District dining scene, with Cumbria now the UK’s most Michelin starred county.
Ollie’s menus, described as a ‘homage to molecular gastronomy’ and ‘precision dining at its finest’, combine meticulously sourced seasonal produce with precise, technical detail, which for Ollie is the key to creating dishes that truly resonate with his diners.
He retained SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel’s Michelin Star in March, just a couple of months into the role, and has exciting plans for the future of the restaurant.
Ollie trained at three-Michelin starred, The Fat Duck, and was sous chef to Heston Blumenthal for almost a decade before taking the role at Gilpin. When it comes to food, he believes perfection is a concept that should always be strived for and therefore the
kitchen at SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel is on a continuous journey of education, experimentation and improvement. His dishes, though they appear simple, are highly technical and flawlessly executed under his exacting eye for detail.
Ollie’s team includes a range of talented chefs including head chef Jack Bond who has an equally impressive C.V. – including working with Marcus Wareing for nine years, Eleven Madison Park in New York (3 Michelin Stars), Davies & Brook at Claridges (1 Michelin Star) and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (3 Michelin Stars).
