My current reviews of great tasting gins from around the UK continues, with this one taking me to Wales.

I recently took a trip to North Wales for a weekend and whilst sitting on the beach at Morfa Nefyn in the sunshine I enjoyed a beautiful gin produced not far away – this was Aber falls.

Aber Falls sits in the small village of Abergwyngregyn near Conwy in North Wales and its Gin is made using the water from the nearby welsh mountains.

Their Welsh Dry Gin is based on a London Dry and is a very light and subtle gin, ideal for using as an ingredient in cocktails, or enjoyed on its own. I found it best with a ‘Light’ Tonic as it is fairly sweet, and found it went great with coriander flowers as the garnish was also allowed to shine through whilst the high notes of Juniper were also present.

The Gin really lends itself to taking on other flavours unlike some of the other Gins I have featured, which are more aimed at sipping or enjoying on their own. Some people prefer to mix their Gin’s more though and this is where Aber Falls succeed and have produced a range of incredible flavoured Gins.

Their Rhubarb and Ginger Gin, mixed with a tonic makes a really refreshing drink that reminds me of Rhubarb and Custard sweets.

The nostalgia continues with their Violet Liqueur – this time singing a sweet Parma Violet flavour

and their Orange marmalade is summer in a glass.

And it doesn’t stop there, with their Salted Toffee or Chocolate and Coffee Liqueurs being gorgeous by themselves or an amazing ingredient for an Espresso based cocktail.

Aber Falls Gins are a truly Welsh delight, the Gins taste as fresh as the mountain air from the areas in which they are created. The Rhubarb and Ginger Gin will always take me back to that sunny beach in Morfa Nefyn and I’ve a new Espresso Martini Ingredient to add to some of my other favourites.

One response to “Gin Review – Aber Falls @aberdistillery”

  1. […] Aber falls produces a number of stunning Gins, with some beautiful flavoured options including Marmalade or Rhubarb and Ginger. I wasn’t really a fan of sweeter flavoured Gins until I tried Aber falls Rhubarb and Ginger – Just imagine a Gin that tastes exactly like a Rhubarb and Custard Sweet – and that’s what this Gin Tastes like. I have also featured Aber falls other flavours as well as their original in an earlier review here. […]
